Performance tuning free tools to add to your SQL Server favorites

You may already be working with the typical SQL Server performance tuning tools, but are you using all the features available in each tool? Don't miss out on these must-have tools, stored procedures and functions.

I recently spoke on SQL Server performance tuning at CFUNITED, a conference focusing on Cold Fusion, where I found a large number of developers who use SQL Server every day. In my presentation, I offered a variety of free tuning tools that attendees were not aware of. Here I'll share the list with you and provide more detailed tips in the future.

   1. Enterprise Manager's Current Activity
   2. SQL Server Profiler
   3. Enterprise Manager's Index Tuning Wizard
   4. System Monitor
   5. Query Analyzer's Query Plans
   6. Stored procedures and functions
   7. SQL Server performance tuning dashboard
