Linked server yielding memory issues

I have set up a linked server to a remote instance of SQL Server. When I try to join two tables, one local and one remote, this error message is posted, "Problem with collation -- cannot satisfy equals operation." How do I fix this?
You need to verify the collation across both tables and change it so it is the same. To find that out, you can execute sp_helpsort to determine the sort order and collation. I would also heed some caution about running frequent transactions over a linked server, I have heard about stressing a linked server yielding memory issues. Be sure to test it properly before moving to your production environment.
