IIS error when installing SQL Server 2000 on XP

Troubleshoot problems installing SQL Server 2000 on Windows XP with help from Monitoring and Administration expert Kevin Kline.

While trying to install SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition on Windows XP with Service Pack 2, I am getting the following error message: "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard edition server component is not supported on this operating system." Internet Information Server is not installed on my system. How should I proceed?
It's not an issue with IIS. SQL Server is supported on Windows XP Professional Edition but not Personal Edition. So upgrade to Professional Edition and you're good to go.
