Step 4: Be sure you have a corruption-free environment

Before upgrading, be sure to issue DBCC CHECKDB and DBCC CHECKCATALOG to validate that the environment is free of corruption. The first checks the allocation and structural integrity of database objects; the second checks for consistency between system tables and databases.
