A lot of attention has been given to the new BI features hitting the streets with SQL Server 2008 R2, but the system also includes plenty of enhancements to its existing tools. These changes are most notable with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), where the big addition is geospatial visualization.

SSRS in 2008 R2 also improves upon the concept of making report creation easier. Herain Oberoi, group product manager with the SQL Server business group, put it this way: "We are really moving [toward] a more collaborative version of building reports, which is a report that's really a sum of parts from different pieces of information."
