QUESTION POSED ON: 20 February 2008
I have received the following error during report processing:

Cannot create a connection to data source 'Mydatasource'. The feature: "The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.

This error pops up when I am trying to view my report in Report Manager. I can, however, see the report in the Business Intelligence Studio. How can I view my report in Report Manager?

It sounds like you are using SQL Server Express. This edition of SQL Server does not support remote data sources, only local sources. Check out the MSDN article "Reporting Services in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services" for more details.

I've heard you can create a linked server on a SQL Server Express instance and have it point at a remote server. (I have not personally verified this as a workaround yet). You can then, supposedly, run reports against remote servers by connecting to the local SQL Server Express instance and referring the remote server using a four-part name.
