QUESTION POSED ON: 29 August 2007
How can I find thedetermine the memory usage of SQL Server 2000? Every time I query the sysperfinfo table in the master database, I get the ctr value on the Target Memory and Total Memory similar to what I configured in the SQL properties maximum memory settings. For example, I have set my SQL Server Dynamic memory to use 6144 MB, but how can I tell that it is really using that memory?

When Address Windowing Extensions (AWE) is enabled on your SQL Server, Windows does not report back the correct amount of memory used. You can monitor the memory usage of your SQL Server in Performance Monitor by monitoring the SQLServer:Memory ManagerTotal Server Memory (KB) performance counter.
