QUESTION POSED ON: 09 November 2005
I have installed SQL Server on Windows 2003 and made incorrect drive letter assignments to C: with respect to the data files and transactions. How can I undo this error without having to rebuild the entire database?

There are a couple ways to do this. The best way is to use the sp_detach_db and sp_attach_db system stored procedures. In essence, you simply disconnect the database from SQL Server, then reconnect it to the server with a new path and file.
