QUESTION POSED ON: 02 July 2004
We have an application in VB which runs in Windows 2000/SQL2000. The same application gives the following error "conversion of char data type to datetime data type resulted in an out of range datetime value" in Windows 98/SQL2000. Any solution?

It sounds like the regional settings of the application on Windows 98 are different to those on Windows 2000. Check these are the same first as the application may be trying to pass the date to SQL Server in a different format.
