QUESTION POSED ON: 16 February 2004
Are there any known problem with linking SQL Server 7.0 databases and SQL Server 2000 databases? I have three servers that I would like to link together for reporting purposes and would like to confirm that the tables will be visible after the link.

No issues. You can backup a SQL Server 7.0 database and restore it to SQL Server 2000. You can link a straight text file + an Excel spreadsheet + and Oracle database into SQL Server via a linked server and query them natively using TSQL, so there is no reason you can not simple link different versions of SQL Server databases together and query those.
