Q

Temporary database is full from a query

Our temporary database is full from a query, and we want to remove it without restarting SQL server. Is there any way to clear this? It is taking up 16 GB of disk space.
First off, evaluate your query and figure out why it is chewing up 16 GB of space. Rewriting it so that it doesn't do that is the first step. If you don't want the space in the file, just shrink the file.
