Renaming instance after upgrade

I upgraded my SQL Server 7.0 to 2000, but kept my 7.0 instance. I had to give another instance name to my SQL Server 2000 server. Now I have removed 7.0. Can I rename my SQL Server 2000 instance name to same one I used for 7.0?

No. You will need to install a default instance of SQL Server. You can then detach all of your database from the...

named instance and attach them to the default instance.
