Problems connecting to SQL Server via Enterprise Manager

Connection problems when trying to register a SQL Server instance through Enterprise Manager could trace back to client tools. Learn more about how to connect to Enterprise Manager.

When I try to register a SQL Server instance through Enterprise Manager, I get the error "SQL Server does not exist or access is denied. ConnectionOpen(Connect())." But when I use Query Analyzer, I'm able to register the same server instance with the same username and password. Why is Enterprise Manager not responding?
If Enterprise Manager cannot connect to any SQL Servers, then the client tools should be reinstalled. If Enterprise Manager can connect to other SQL Servers except for this one, you may need to set a server alias in the SQL Server Client Network Utility. If this does not correct the issue, a reinstall of the client tools and the most recent SQL Server service pack may be required.
