I'm running a defrag on a test system -- will it work the same in the production system?

I want to perform a defragmentation on one of our high availability cluster environment production servers. This is the first time we're performing a defragmentation on that server. Since it has very large databases, we want to give it a run on a test environment first.

My plan is simple: I will take large database's backup and restore it in the test environment and then perform...

the defragmentation. Assuming it works, can I expect the same result on our production server?

Yes, this will work on the other server where you restore your backup to. The only difference will be the time that it takes. If this other server is slower it will take longer then it would when you actually run it in your production environment.
