Q

How to upload data from Access on SQL Server 2005

SQL Server expert Eric Brown provides information on SQL Server upload functionality after an upgrade to SQL Server 2005.

I use SQL Server 2000 DTS to upload data from my local MS Access database to the database on remote server. If I upgrade to SQL Server 2005, can I still perform this operation?
Yes absolutely. You will be able to run the DTS 2000 package in SQL Server 2005. If you want to use any SQL Server 2005 features in your package, you will need to upgrade the package, which will probably involve some re-writing. The SQL Server Integration Services site has some info about upgrading and learning to use the new tools.
