Q

Exporting a production DB and importing it into new development server

I have a SAP Development server running SQL 7 on Windows NT. Recently, this Development server crashed (a couple of hard disk crashed), and we found the backup tapes to be corrupted. Now, I need to reinstall my Development server. I would like to export out the Production MSSQL database and import it into the new Development server which I will be reinstalling. Please advise on how I can export out the database and safely import it into the Development server. I am new at MSSQL but have worked with Oracle databases before.

All you need to do is backup the database, copy the backup files to your development server and restore them.
