Q

Determining the utilization of the database

What counters do you measure to determine the utilization (i.e. how busy) a database is? I run SQL Server 2000, SP3 on Win2K Advanced Server SP3.

You'd have to define what you mean by utilization. You can use the Processor counters to determine the processor utilization. You can use the memory counters to determine how much memory SQL Server is using on the machine. You can use the SQL Server memory counters to look at the buffer breakdown of memory utilization within the SQL Server. You can look at the network stack to determine utilization at that level.
